The idea for Rusty Nail Design Co started when my wife and I were starting our search for a “big-boy” bed for our son. After a few trips to some furniture stores, I decided “I got this” and made the decision to build my son’s bed. I really had no idea what I was getting in to, I barely had any tools, but I was determined to make it happen. I found Ana White’s Kentwood Bed plans and decided that was the bed I was going to build. After a few very long weeks, the bed was finished, and I was hooked! I’ve since made quite a few things around our home ranging from mason jar wall sconces to a “manger-style” book shelf for my son’s books (only about a tenth of them, seriously, he has a lot of books!).

But it wasn’t until March of 2017 when my wife and her friend pushed me to open my Etsy store. She loved the solid cherry Yardzee dice that I make so much, but she wouldn’t buy any until I opened an Etsy store. And on March 9, 2017, Rusty Nail Design Co was born!

My passion for woodworking has continued to grow wildly since opening my Etsy store. I love working with materials that some may see as trash and turning it into something beautiful! It is a wonderful feeling that comes from rescuing materials that were about to be burnt or discarded and showing off the true beauty of something that was previously thought of as trash! I welcome custom orders so, if there is anything you have in mind, please let me know! I would love to make your idea become a reality! I can’t even describe the satisfaction that comes from turning an idea into something someone can have in their home!

It’s unfortunate that quality craftsmanship and great customer service are rare these days, but I take great pride in my work and treat every customer and order like I am making it for a friend, always providing the best possible customer service.

On a personal note, I am married and have a son. For my day job, I am a customer service representative for a local business. In the future I hope to be able to make woodworking my full-time job where I can put my creativity to use making quality decorative items and furniture.
